
On September 21, 2026, coinciding with the United Nations International Day of Peace, the 13th "Peace Garden Peace Festival" was grandly held in the Peace Garden Museum Community in Beijing. This event was jointly organized by UNESCO, the China World Peace Foundation, the China Federation of Radio and Television Associations , the Beijing NGO Association for International Exchanges, the Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation, FIAP, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in China, the Embassy of Austria in China, and received enthusiastic support from international organizations and the international community.
Li Ruohong, the chairman of the China World Peace Foundation and the president of the Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation, along with representatives from various countries, danced with the music of "The Song of the Peace Garden Peace Festival" in a joyous and harmonious atmosphere, releasing peace doves together and announcing the opening and unveiling the "Global Public Goods Creation and Dissemination Base". Fan Weiping, the president of the China Federation of Radio and Television Associations,H.E. Mr. Abou Amani, the assistant director-general of UNESCO, H.E.Mr. Shahbaz Khan, the representative of UNESCO in China, former Prime Minister of Egypt H.E. Mr. ISAM Sharaf, former Prime Minister of Nepal H.E.Mrs. Sujata Koirala, Former Chairman of the Pakistan Foreign Affairs Committee H.E.Mr. Mushahid, former Minister of Education of the Netherlands H.E. Mrs.Annette , and many other international dignitaries delivered speeches. More than a hundred foreign ambassadors in China, representatives of international organizations such as the IFRC, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization, scholars and experts from various countries, international youth representatives, as well as leaders from Chinese government departments and relevant authorities in Beijing attended the event.
Since 2014, the China World Peace Foundation, the Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation and UNESCO have jointly held the "Peace Garden Peace Festival" for thirteen consecutive years and the "Global Youth Photo Contest" for eight years in Beijing. Over the past thirteen years, the activities have focused on major issues such as global governance, regional reconciliation, cross-civilization dialogue, "Belt&Road" construction, scientific and technological innovation, intangible cultural heritage preservation, women's development, youth growth, and international humanitarian rescue, to build consensus and issue initiatives for peace-related public welfare projects such as civil diplomacy and "Belt&Road". Representatives from various countries gathered here to convey their voices for peace and received high attention and positive responses from the international community.
Representatives of various governments and international organizations, as well as the representative of UNESCO in China, delivered speeches respectively.

Chairman Li Ruohong delivered the following speech: Over the years, the China World Peace Foundation, the Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation, and UNESCO have collaborated to release the "Peace Garden Declaration", contributing five global public products to the world: "The Silk Road Cultural Interactive Map", "Peace Garden Peace Festival", "Global Youth Photo Contest", "Silk Road Short Video Competition", and "The International Network of Dialogue Venue of the Silk Road", forming a global public goods creation and dissemination base.
President Fan Weiping, based on the broadcasting and television industry, expounded on the significant value of media power in the international dissemination of peaceful culture. He stated: Over the past thirteen years, with continuous progress and passing on of the torch, the "Peace Garden Peace Festival" has taken root in the fertile soil of Chinese folk culture, vividly fulfilling the United Nations' sustainable development goals, blooming a splendid flower of peace, and gradually evolving into a global non-governmental communication platform with significant contemporary meaning and considerable influence.

In a video address, Assistant Director-General Abou Amani of UNESCO said: "The Foundation has long been an important partner of UNESCO, and this is a partnership that we highly value. We continue to develop through the Silk Road Initiative and look forward to further strengthening our cooperation."

During his speech at the venue where the Director-General's message was being read out, the representative of UNESCO in China, H.E.Mr. Shahbaz Khan, said: This year's theme, "The New Silk Road, The New Thinking Route", conveys an eternal truth: Roads are never merely channels for transporting goods; they also carry languages, ideas, artistic traditions and ways of understanding the world. They remind us that encounters can become sources of enrichment rather than division for each other.
The Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, H.E.Mr. KHAN Sohail, stated in his speech: The theme of today's event, "New Silk Road, New Thinking Route", is of great significance. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization believes that the diversity of civilizations and cultures is an important resource for international cooperation. In today's world, culture remains the universal language for communication, which helps to build and maintain trust, promote dialogue, and lay a solid foundation for peace, good neighborly relations, and sustainable development. The cooperation between the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the United Nations, UNESCO, and other relevant parties will help to promote the development of peaceful culture and dialogue among civilizations.
Former Egyptian Prime Minister H.E. Mr.Isam Sharaf pointed out: Due to different histories, cultures, interests and development experiences, it is natural for countries to have differences. The real issue is not how to eliminate these differences, but how to avoid conflicts. Today's world does not need new boundaries or new obstacles; it needs more bridges. The New Silk Road can be one of these bridges.

The Former chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Pakistani Senate,H.E.Mr. Mushahid, stated: In this era of turmoil and change in the world, what we urgently need is connectivity and peace. We facilitated the ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States. This was the first time in 47 years, and all of this was achieved thanks to our friend - the People's Republic of China, which has a consistent stance on peaceful diplomacy.

The former Prime Minister of Nepal, H.E.Mrs. Sujata Koirala, said: "When we are confronted with geopolitical tensions, climate change, economic inequality and humanitarian crises, we should advocate inclusiveness and people-oriented principles, ensure justice is served, and each country, regardless of its size, maintain its dignity and receive respect. Only in this way can we promote lasting peace."
The former Dutch Minister of Education, H.E.Mrs.Annette , proposed: We should respect people's right to view the world in different ways and learn to coexist with profound differences. She called for maintaining unity and cooperation to understand and respect, thereby eliminating conflicts and differences.

During the event, the results of the 8th " Youths Eyes on the Silk Road" photo contest and an exhibition of outstanding works were announced. The theme of this event was "Living Heritage along the Silk Road", presenting the landscape and cultural beauty of the Silk Road from the perspective of young people. To build functional service facilities and empower the creation of the culinary culture brand of Beijing as an international consumption center, a special exhibition on Silk Road culinary culture was set up at the event site. It integrated the culinary cultures of various countries along the Silk Road, fully showcasing the Beijing style and flavor, and spreading the charm of Chinese culinary culture.
The teachers and students of the PCEB presented a dance performance titled "We Are in This Together", using artistic means to interpret the concept of mutual support and shared destiny in the pursuit of peace. At the end of the event, all the guests took the stage to gather together. Accompanied by music symbolizing unity and peace, the guests waved Chinese and flags of various countries. UNESCO conducted a global live broadcast, with over a billion guests from various countries and viewers participating online to celebrate the successful hosting of this event and jointly pray for the perpetual peace of the world.
