
To support the development of Beijing as a city with the "Four Functions" and advance people-to-people diplomacy, following the signing of a cooperation agreement with Huairou District, Beijing, a delegation of directors and experts from the Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation embarked on an on-site research visit to the Tianqiao Area at the invitation of Xicheng District, Beijing on July 21, 2026 — marking the second anniversary of the successful inscription of the Beijing Central Axis on the World Heritage List.

The foundation delegation visited a host of distinctive cultural venues including the Tianqiao Impression Museum, Tianqiao Art Garden (Terrace of the Art Building), Qingcheng Palace, Yongdingmen Teahouse, Tianqiao Talk Lounge and Yixing Guild Hall. The visit offered the delegation fresh insights into the historical evolution of the area, development of cultural tourism spaces, intangible cultural heritage exhibitions and the operation of public cultural venues.

During site visits and the ensuing forum, Jiang Lan, Director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Xicheng District Committee; Zhou Xiang, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Tianqiao Sub-district; andXu Xiaohui, General Manager of Beijing Shengshi Groupelaborated on the cultural backdrop of the Beijing Performing Arts Centre and potential areas for cooperation. Directors and experts of the Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation held in-depth exchanges to explore viable models and pathways for collaboration.On behalf of the delegation, Chairman Li Ruohong extended gratitude to the CPC Xicheng District Committee, Xicheng District People’s Government and Tianqiao Sub-district for the warm reception and thoughtful arrangements. He stated that the global stage calls for an international narrative and cultural diversity, while a people’s paradise thrives on folk customs rooted in local life. As an official partner of UNESCO, the foundation contributed to the World Heritage inscription bid for the Beijing Central Axis. Going forward, it will join hands with Xicheng District to preserve and promote world cultural heritage and intangible cultural heritage.
