On November 11th , 2024, H.E.Mr. Esteban Lazo Hernandez, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State Republic of Cuba, came to Beijing Peace Garden Museum during his official visit to China to attend the activity of "Gathering with Cuba's Old Friends".

H.E.Mr. Lazo and the Cuban Ambassador to China, H.E. Mr. Alberto J. Blanco Silva, presented flowers in front of the peace landscape stone inscribed by Cuban leader H.E. Castro, which was exhibited at the Peace Garden Museum, and watched the documentary film of H.E.Mr. Lazo's visit to China and his meeting with Chinese national leaders together with friendly people from China and abroad. It shows the firm steps of the two peoples in supporting each other and making progress hand in hand over the past long years. From the close exchanges in the political field to the deepening of economic cooperation, from the increasingly frequent cultural interaction to the deep-rooted folk friendship, every moment embodies the painstaking efforts of the two peoples. This friendship transcends time and space, lasting forever.

In her speech, H.E.Mrs. Caridad Diego, head of the office of attention to Religious Affairs Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Cuba-China Parliamentary Friendship Group, and President of the Cuba-China Friendship Association, said, "Today, we gather again to celebrate the special friendship between our two countries. The outstanding work and personal efforts of our friends have deepened this friendship, and your support and care for Cuba will eliminate the geographical distance between our two countries. Cuba thanks the Chinese government and people for their support and friendship. This is not only a high praise for the friendship between China and Cuba, but also a beautiful expectation for the future friendly relations between the two countries.

Mr.Wang Hongzhuan, leader of the China World Peace Foundation, also welcomed the delegation on behalf of Chairman Li Ruohong of the Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation&the China World Peace Foundation, and its Chinese and international partners, presented the Cuban leader with the Peace Ambassador  Honorary Commemorative Medal. In his speech, Mr. Wang Hongzhuan welcomed everyone to hold a gathering of "old friends" at the Peace Garden Museum, which is known for peace and friendship. Cuba is the first country in the Western Hemisphere to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China, and is also one of the first countries in the Americas where the Chinese people first set foot. Its historical origins and cultural exchanges have enabled the Chinese people to maintain their enthusiasm for Cuba's good friends, good comrades and good brothers in all generations. For a long time, China has maintained friendly exchanges, close cooperation, and partnership with the Cuban government and embassy in China. As an official partner of UNESCO, the Foundation hopes to carry out in-depth cultural diplomacy and peace and public welfare with Cuba in the "Silk Road Cultural Interaction", safeguard regional security and national dignity, promote cooperation in economic, social, health, scientific and technological progress, financial medias and other fields, promote Cuba's world heritage and intangible cultural heritage, and let traditional friendship pass on from generation to generation.

Former Chinese Ambassador to Cuba, Mr.Xu Yicong, also delivered a speech on the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries. Friendly individuals from all walks of life attended this event together. Teenagers, children, and artists respectively performed Cuban poetry recitation, songs programs. The representatives of both sides jointly expressed their beautiful wishes for friendly cooperation and united development. It is believed that with the joint efforts of the governments and people of the two countries, China Cuba friendship will continue to deepen, bear more fruitful fruits, bring more benefits to the two peoples, and make greater contributions to world peace and development.
