UNESCO and Sino-Africa Think Tanks hold the Peace Garden International Forum

On September 19th , on the occasion of the  China  Africa Cooperation  Forum in Beijing, the International Seminar on "Rediscovering Ancient Routes and Interactions between China and Africa", jointly organized by UNESCO, the Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation , and the African think tank AFROSPECTIVES, was grandly held at the Peace Garden Museum in Beijing. Envoys from African countries in China, representatives of international organizations, experts and scholars from well-known universities at home and abroad on archaeology and history gathered together to discuss topics of East African history, the China Africa Maritime Silk Road in the Indian Ocean world system, China Africa cultural interaction, the Silk Road across the Sahara Desert, the initiative of the G7 and the European Union on the "Belt and Road", and China's Aids to Africa.


In his welcome speech, Chairman Li said, "The Silk Road is not only a road of economic and cultural exchanges, but also a peaceful cause of civilization progress, witnessing the long-standing friendship between China and Africa. Africa is the region with the largest number of developing countries in the world, and there is great space for South South cooperation in the principle of prioritizing Africa in the United Nations. The integration and interaction of UNESCO's Peace cultural diversity will provide more public goods and opportunities. The international academic Seminar held today will reflect the power of wisdom, influence more people with ideological power and credibility, turn beneficial things into interesting things, and create productivity development with civilization progress. Dr. Shabahang, the representative of UNESCO headquarters, introduced the development of the UNESCO Silk Road Project and looked forward to the new vitality of China Africa cooperation in cultural interaction and cooperation along the UNESCO Silk Road. This forum is chaired by Dr. Ali, the chairman of AFROSPECTIVES, an African think tank.
