On October 27, 2020, a public welfare forum on Buddhist arts and culture was held in Peace Garden Museum. Dr. Li Ruohong, Chairman of China World Peace Foundation and President of Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation, had a discussion with Master Shi Guanglin, abbot of Wanfo temple in Qishan, Fujian Province, Mr. Mi Xiong of Fujian Huayu Education Technology Co., Ltd., and other Fujian entrepreneurs on the topic of public welfare development and cooperation of Buddhist culture and arts under the current situation.
At present, the number of Buddhists in the world has reached 740 million. Fujian Province is not only a Buddhist cultural resort, but also a famous hometown of overseas Chinese and a prosperous area for enterprise development. How to promote Belt&Road initiative, to find the right way to create a global community of human destiny, how to integrate patriotism, love and education into the common development plan, and achieve harmonious and mutual love and to exchange ideas with peace are the main contents of this forum.
Chairman Li Ruohong pointed out that the Buddhist culture is broad and profound with its bright arts and precious classic books, which has a far-reaching influence in the world. The development of Buddhist culture could be combined with the belt&Road cultural interactive Atlas which is jointly developed by the Foundation and UNESCO. The sustainable development of the community will be combined with the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage. We will serve the community through cultural exchanges, art exhibitions and public welfare projects, and promote the cause of peace.
With peace as the theme, culture and arts as the carrier and public welfare as the form---the above proposal has been approved and supported by all. The agreement of "Buddhist harmonious cultural public welfare fund" has been signed to support the sustainable development of the project. In the future, the two sides will mobilize a wide range of social forces, combined with the technological advantages of the Internet, to carry forward this public welfare project.
