H.E. Victor Sikonina, Head of Diplomatic Mission in China and Ambassador of Madagascar, visited China World Peace Foundation on April 1 and presented an ancient snail stone table with special Madagascan characteristics while visiting the Beijing Peace Garden Museum. He also held friendly talks with Dr. Li Ruohong, president of China World Peace Foundation and Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation, and Mr. Lu Qingcheng, Secretary-general of China World Peace Foundation, regarding cooperation between China, Madagascar, and other African countries. Old friends spoke with each other without reserve. H.E. Victor Sikonina first highly praised the Foundation’s achievements over the years in the field of people’s diplomacy with its broad-mindedness, international vision, and peace operations. He then gave an in-depth introduction to Madagascar’s history, institutions, natural resources, economic development goals, regional strategic locations, and influence of international organizations, and hopes to use the An Interactive Atlas of Cultural Interactions along the Silk Roads project initiated by the foundation and the UNESCO, the Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads Photo Contest, and the cooperation of island countries’ civilizations as cut-in points to explore opportunities for future multilateral cooperation. He looks forward to jointly promoting diplomatic efforts for public welfare with the foundation in the fields of social responsibility, cultural exchanges, youth talent training, finance, agriculture, investment and trade in tourism and health industries on the occasion of the Forum on China-African Cooperation to be held on September. H.E. Victor Sikonina also focused on development ideas for the “characteristic industries, towns first" that the Madagascar is currently planning in the southern region. He hopes to use the Chinese development model in the Belt and Road for reference to improve people's livelihood. After the talks, President Li Ruohong has awarded the medal of Peace Ambassador to H.E. Ambassador Victor Sikonina, the head of the diplomatic mission of China, for his continuous efforts during his stay in China for the past 15 years in promoting peace and friendship between China and Africa.
