Li Ruohong, chairman of the China World Peace Foundation, is making a keynote speech on the Symposium

Jingchu net news (reported by Yu Mei, Shen Sufen, Zhang Cheng,Intern Ge Sisi) "Social organizations play an irreplaceable role in the process of global governance ,"China World Peace Foundation Chairman Li Ruohong spoke at the"International Symposium on global governance and national responsibility" which was held in Wuhan on December 12th, “ with the growing power of global civil society , social organizations have become an important force in global governance.”

"China has long taken the policy of government oriented foreign strategy and foreign diplomacy , the social organization’s participation in global governance is developing under restriction, not fully playing its unique flexible advantages ." In his keynote speech, Li Ruohong proposed that the three main bodies of global governance include governments, international organizations and non-governmental organizations, enterprises. In the last 10 years, the Chinese social organizations have made positive progress in global governance. However, there are still 3 main problems in the process of social organization’s participation in global governance and external communication which are the policy restrictions, lack of the overall strength, narrow mindedness and so on.

"The establishment of social organizations to participate in the national support system of global governance is not only a way to improve the governance capacity of domestic social organizations, but also to show the world that China is actively fulfilling the responsibilities and obligations of a great power ." Li Ruohong believes that in order to promote the participation of Chinese social organizations in global governance and international public welfare activities, the government must take strong measures to support the development of social organizations in China, and guide them to devote to global social affairs and public affairs. He said that the social organization’s "going out" should be an important part of China's international strategy, it is urgent to establish a national support system which could help social organizations to participate in global governance and international public welfare activities.

Li Ruohong suggested that the government should promote its support in policy, funding and other aspects of help, and play a key role in liaison, coordination, organization and mobilization of all forces, so that social organizations could participate successfully in the global governance.
